8 reasons why I’m selling my Apple Watch

I really wanted to love my Apple Watch.

I thought it would be like all the other Apple products I own: not really necessary, but once you have them at your fingertips, you quickly realise how much thought has gone into the product, how effortless they are to understand, how simple they make your life.

After my early enthusiasm for the Apple Watch, the reality of living with it has been entirely underwhelming and even downright dangerous.

So much so, that I’m going to get rid of it. Continue reading “8 reasons why I’m selling my Apple Watch”

Apple Watch’s turn by turn navigation is dangerously distracting

A quick though on Apple Watch’s turn by turn navigation.

It’s not only very annoying, it’s also dangerously distracting when cycling.

Some bits from WWDC and the best Apple Watch review yet

The big event in tech this week was Apple’s annual World Wide Developer Conference. In a two hour keynote, the top brass at Apple talked about almost every one of their products (no mention of the iPod or Apple TV – the latter expected by some commentators due to the design of the conference featuring a square with rounded edges, much like the Apple TV device).

Despite its many flaws I think my Apple Watch will help me manage digital distraction and stay active

My 42mm stainless steel Apple Watch with the sport armband finally arrived on Thursday.

Here are some of my first impressions on a scale of brilliant to pants and a summary as to whether I would recommend getting one.

The Apple Watch helps you take some pretty epic selfies

Feeling good this morning, so I decided to go for a longer run than planned.

Here’s the run on Strava – it also gave me the chance to play around with the camera remote app on my new Apple Watch.

How Casey Neistat made a viral video about making your own gold Apple Watch

We could make a viral video!

A sentence that anyone working in marketing or PR will recognise. Continue reading “How Casey Neistat made a viral video about making your own gold Apple Watch”

Apple Watch: a seamless connection between the digital and real world?

The Apple Watch is here. Kind of. It’s available for pre-order starting at £299 for the smaller Apple Watch Sport and goes up all the way to £13,500 for the Apple Watch Edition.

I pre-ordered mine on the first day possible and was still landed with a delivery window of sometime in June, so that gives me a lot of time to read reviews and worry that I’ve made a mistake and gone for the first iteration of a watch that is slow, needs a phone to do anything interesting and will undoubtedly get better with the following version (according to some of the first reviews I’ve read). Apple Watch will save time as well as tell it (and I can’t wait to strap in)

I’ve made no secret about how excited I am about the launch of Apple Watch. It is going to be big.

I mean, look at it. Pure tech porn. Continue reading “Apple Watch will save time as well as tell it (and I can’t wait to strap in)”

Looking back at 2014 and my top 3 predictions for PR, marketing and digital in 2015

So things have been a bit quiet around here.

A simple explanation really: I’ve gone from a long distance relationship to living together. A change that brought about a dramatic change in weekend priorities, one where geeking out over t’Interwebs and digital bits of interest slipped down behind spending time with G, long walks with the dog, doing the weekly shop, shouting at the telly because Arsenal are yet again throwing away a game.

But now, it’s the first day of 2015, I’m back from the traditional New Year’s Day run and what better way to get into this bits and bytes malarkey than looking back at 2014 and a wee peek at what could be in store.
